Black and White Set in 1981, written for hp100:
Remus Lupin could not believe that it had only been a week since his world had turned upside-down. He had always believed in a black-and-white world. Wizards were either Light or Dark, and the difference was easy to see. And then… James and Lily were dead, his bright Sirius was Dark, terrified Peter was courageous, and Severus Snape was, according to Headmaster Dumbledore, a hero of the highest order. Remus could not wrap his head around that one. If Severus Snape wasn’t a Dark, greasy git, Remus couldn’t be certain of anything. Then again, perhaps that wasn’t a bad thing. | | 2:14 pm |
Thoroughly & New Lessons Two drabbles written for LJ's hp100. Set in an AU universe in which Voldemort's Horcruxes were faulty, so the rebounded Avada Kedavra actually killed him completely.
Thoroughly Voldemort was finally, thoroughly dead. So Severus indulged: he got thoroughly drunk in a Muggle bar. Severus couldn’t explain his celebratory mood, but he had plenty of complaints about the brats, which he related to anyone who would listen. It was just his luck that the couple next to him were also teachers. After they laughed at his stories, retaliating with stories from their own eight years of teaching, they dragged him along to the bookstore. They piled his arms full: science teaching, adolescent psychology, classroom discipline, Piaget. Back at Hogwarts, those books changed more than his attitude towards teaching.
New Lessons Severus thumbed through his copy of Forman and Kuschner yet again. The brats were easier to manage now that he had realized that teaching potions was a separate skill from potions-making itself. A skill Severus was determined to master, just as he had mastered Potions and the Dark Arts. Severus jotted down a couple of notes for the fourth years next lesson. Some of the Slytherin boys could not focus on their potions when they were together. Perhaps mixed-House groups. The sixth years weren’t grasping the fundamental principles behind the potions. He needed a new approach for them, as well. |
